A Treatment is a short outline of a media production designed to give a client or production team an overview of what the production might include based on a brief.
They are written descriptions but can also include sketches, mock ups, images and other draft items designed to demonstrate the intention of a production. Treatments are often used to sell an idea to a client. There is no hard and fast way to produce a treatment, although it is an integral aspect of the preproduction process.

Initial Concept Ideas for Our Song
For our initial idea for our music video we want to create an old-school RnB/Pop look and feel to our music video and we aim to achieve this by incorporating shots like close-ups and mid-shots.However the audio will have a more contemporary RnB/Pop sound as we are aiming to combine the old elements of the genre with the new modern sound.
In addition to this, we do want to incorporate lip-syncing into our music video, which we will probably do through the singer when she is in the frame.
In terms of narrative we want to have a focus on a deteriorating relationship and the shots will alternate between flashbacks in the past and in current present day.
Furthermore, we are possibly thinking of having the singer present in all the shots but she just blends in with the background when the focus is on the couple and then comes into the frame.

Leona Lewis- 'Better In Time' Lyrics
"Better In Time"
It's been the longest winter without you
I didn't know where to turn to
See somehow I can't forget you
After all that we've been through
Going coming thought I heard a knock
Who's there no one
Thinking that I deserve it
Now I realize that I really didn't know
If you didn't notice you mean everything
Quickly I'm learning to love again
All I know is I'm gonna be OK
[Chorus:]
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time
I couldn't turn on the TV
Without something there to remind me
Was it all that easy
To just put aside your feelings
If I'm dreaming don't wanna laugh
Hurt my feelings but that's the path
I believe in
And I know that time will heal it
If you didn't notice boy you meant everything
Quickly I'm learning to love again
All I know is I'm gonna be OK
[Chorus:]
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time
Since there's no more you and me
It's time I let you go
So I can be free
And live my life how it should be
No matter how hard it is I'll be fine without you
Yes I will
[Chorus: X2]
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to

Song Choice Change -'Better in Time' Leona Lewis
We have decided to change our song for our music video from Kehlani's 'Piece of Mind' as we initially planned on incorporating lip-syncing, which would be difficult for the actor as the pace quite quick, another obstacle that this formed was when having ideas for shots it was difficult as the lyric tone was not fitting
As a result of these issues, we have collectively decided that Leona Lewis's ' Better In Time' would be more suited due to the lyrical meaning being very well linked with our narrative plot.In addition to this when considering the pace of the song,as it begins slightly slower but then when the chorus starts there is an increase in the pace which allows our editing to be varied as we will edit to the beat of the song.
Rather than spend more time looking for a completely new song, we had already chosen this song as a possible 'runner-up' for our final song choice and we wanted to have a female voice singing the song as we would not have trouble finding somebody, therefore this was an ideal choice.

Mood Board
In order to find inspiration to the sort of aesthetic that we had for the music video I created a mood board with secondary and primary resources. It enables me to have a better idea as to the variety of different shots we want to include and analyse music videos from our genre that commonly have certain conventions. We want to create an old school R'n'B look but have audio that is a little more modern in terms of sound.

Peace of Mind -Kehlani Lyrics
[ Intro ]
To be honest, I think we spend so much time
Trying to find answers for things
And maybe it's just not meant to be answered
I think sometimes the best things
Are in the unplanned and the unknown
And sometimes when we balance back and we do it
We don't know how we did it, we just do it
It's something in us, whether that's our intuition
Whether that's the way we been raised
Whether that's down to even what we put in our bodies
Do you get it? So I think—I think that can remain a mystery
And I think that's okay for it to remain a mystery
Does that make sense?
[Verse 1]
Tryna forget all of the messages
Tryna forget all of the stressin'
'Cause damn it was (extra and—)
Tryna forget all of the secondary
Feelings I had, man, it was fuckin' scary
Tryna get back to all my old ways
Tryna get back to all the hobbies
From my old days (gettin' back)
Tryna forget all the unnecessary
Thoughts from my head, man, it was pretty scary
[Pre-Chorus]
At least I learned a thing or two about me and you
What we went through, it made me who I am (I am, I am)
I can feel again, won't be numb again (numb)
At least I didn't mess it up, that was all your touch
I don't miss it much but it made me who I am (I am, I am)
I can feel again, won't be dumb again (dumb)
[Chorus]
Said I'm tryna break off a piece of mind
A piece of mind that I can't get right
(I can't get it right)
Said I'm tryna break off a piece of mind
A piece of mind, my heart's on my side
(My heart is on my side)
[Verse 2]
You said yourself, you made me who I am
You told me that after you, I would never love again (Didn't I?)
Oh you made sure that I would lose myself
So I wanna see, I needed no one else
Just tell me that I was worth a million smiles
And tell me that I was worth a million miles
And tryna make sure that I forget the times that
You made me think that I just couldn't shine, yeah
[Pre-Chorus]
At least I learned a thing or two about me and you
What we went through, it made me who I am (I am, I am)
I can feel again, won't be numb again (numb)
At least I didn't mess it up, that was all your touch

(I can't get it right)
Said I'm tryna break off a piece of mind
A piece of mind, my heart's on my side
(My heart is on my side)
[Bridge]
On my side, yeah
On my side, yeah
Gotta get a little piece of mind
Gotta make sure that it feels just right
Gotta make sure that I make it last this time
[Chorus]
Said I'm tryna break off a piece of mind
(I'm tryna break off)
A piece of mind that I can't get right
(Boy, that I can't get right)
Said I'm tryna break off a piece of mind

Our Chosen Song
For our music video, we have collectively decided to opt for the song 'Peace of Mind' by the artist Kehlani. Our reasoning behind this is due to the lyric as they hold meaning and the shots would revolve around a broken relationship and support the audio in having greater emphasis and empowering women.
Also we could envision the layout and shots to this song as we aim for an old school R'n'B aesthetic with a modern twist , as in comparison to other songs we had looked at, the lyrics were more difficult in terms of shots that flowed with one another rather than seem misplaced or effect the continuity.
In addition to this the audio was suitable as it is not very slow and melancholy like the majority of songs we had heard but instead had a beat that was a little bit more upbeat but didn't compromise the feel of the genre completely and had a more contemporary sound.
To add to this, we plan on incorporating lip-synching into our music video therefore it was necessary that the lyrics were not too fast-paced.
Another reason as to why we are opting for the RnB genre is due to the fact that it is a little more different in terms of editing to modern day music videos as well as certain conventions being very obvious due to the there being a large amount of inspiration from music videos within the genre, which would aid us in the production of our project.
Likewise, the song has no music video, which is an advantage as the audience would not make any comparison and allows us more creativity with shots.
Lastly, in regards to the audience the song will appeal to young teenagers and adults as it is a more in season adaptation to the RnB genre.

Potential Songs : For and Against
Amerie- talkin to me
For
- catchy and will stay with the audience.
- audio is not too upbeat and very fitting to the typical sound of rnb sound
- lyrics are said clearly and slowly -- ease of us replicating the lip-syncing.
Against
- the idea for the shots is more difficult as there is not much we could think of that would be relevant especially for the duration of the song.
- lyrics are not meaningful
All I have - Jennifer Lopez
For
- Lyrics are meaningful,we can subvert stereotypical assumptions
- Sung on a good pace therefore it will be easier to lip-sync
- more freedom for shot ideas
Against
- singing is a little too tuned
- the introduction is very long
- we would need to include a male singer
Better in time -Leona Lewis
For
For
- pace of the song is ideal as it begins slow but then gets faster towards the chorus
- lyrics hold meaning therefore more impact when shots appear in sequence.
- the lyrics allow us to have more creativity in terms of shots.
- fits into the sort of vision we have with our shot ideas as we want to follow the convention of breakups and difficult relationships.
- we can subvert gender stereotypes of women as the lyrics says "thought I couldn't live without you" inferring realisation and suggesting independence without a male figure.
Against
- very well-known song therefore audience will compare to original music video .
